Our Story
Form, before function
Distorya started with a simple fascination: what happens when you take a familiar shape — an animal, a silhouette, an everyday object — and reduce it to its essential facets. The result is never quite faithful to the original. It's a distortion, a geometric interpretation. And that's exactly where the object becomes interesting.
3D printing gave us the means to build that idea without compromise: every plane, every angle, every negative space reproduced with a precision no other technique offers at this price. The base's wood-tone filament brings back a warmth a fully digital piece would never have on its own.
One piece at a time
Nothing gets printed before it's ordered. No warehouse, no surplus, no end-of-season markdown to clear out inventory we misjudged. Every sculpture is printed, base included, once your order is confirmed.
It takes a few extra days compared to something already sitting on a shelf. That's the cost of a piece made for yours, not for a warehouse.
Materials, chosen with intention
The PLA we use is made from renewable resources (corn starch) and biodegradable under industrial composting — not petroleum-derived plastic that outlives everyone. Each base isn't wood: it's printed as part of the same continuous piece as the sculpture, in a filament tinted to capture that same warmth. None of that is invisible in the finished piece — it's exactly what gives each one its texture and presence.
What we'll never do
We'll never mass-produce to pad a margin. We'll never sell an STL file we wouldn't be proud to print ourselves. Every shape in the catalog is drawn, tested, and reworked until it earns its place on a shelf — otherwise it stays in the workshop.
